The advertisement I decided to go with for this blog prompt is a video on youtube that was posted back in 2018 which talked about google’s way of promoting a vegan lifestyle. The ad used two forms of the rhetorical triangle which was ethos and pathos. It not only shows what Google’s intentions are which is making it easier to live a vegan lifestyle in New York City but also shows how they are not the only people raising awareness about the lifestyle and how common it is becoming. The channel that posted the video is informing its viewers about the recent ads companies and celebrities who have a good reputation and the accomplishments the companies got to show their credibility. The title of the ad contains the name of the company with the best reputation which allows it’s viewers to feel that the ad is more credible and it also begins talking about how as time passes google’s app would learn your preferences as you use it making it better for the audience. Rhetorical appeals was used when the ad mentioned the traffic in subway stations because their attended audience was NYC residents as could be shown by showing the location of the ads around NYC.
The way ethos is being used is by using short clips of celebrities who are respected that promote the vegan lifestyle. People who follow the celebrities know they have credibility and the ad also shows companies that have a good reputation in the area of vegan food and positive reviews of people trying the products so people would have that emotion (pathos) that it is not that much of a taste difference from the current food they eat this day. Pathos is also being used as long as the rhetoric situation by showing that the ad for google maps makes it easier to locate places to find vegan near you which makes it easier for you. It also relates to people’s emotions because they add a clip of the crowded subway which shows that the ad is aimed for people in New York City because only the residents from NYC would know how it feels like to be in that crowded train station. Therefore it is just logical for people to use the app to make their lives simpler and those are the two persuasive rhetorical techniques they used in their ad.

This ad uses a lot of rhetorical devices. Of course using celebrities is a good tactic to evoking people and persuading them to think one way about an ad. Many ads are mainly celebrity based and some are just not good ads.
I also believe using celebrities is the best way and the easiest. But this was a good attempt of relating the celebrity to the audience.
