Writing Center
The Writing Center offers free, one-to-one (in-person and online) and small-group workshop writing support to all Baruch students. The Center’s consultants work collaboratively with you to deepen your writing and English language skills. At any step in the process, they’ll help you become a more confident and versatile writer. I encourage you to schedule your appointment well in advance of when your writing is due. You can schedule an appointment at: https://bc.mywconline.com/. Visit the Writing Center in NVC 8-185 or at the Newman Library Reference Desk, or log on to their website, writingcenter.baruch.cuny.edu, to learn more.
Library
The library at Baruch is pretty fantastic. Did you know you can borrow laptops from a vending machine there? Indeed you can. There are also many comfy study areas, open desktop computers to use, helpful resource librarians, and, of course, BOOKS. I strongly suggest you familiarize yourself with all of these things immediately. Here is their website.
Fitness Center
We all feel better when we exercise. Baruch has a large fitness center with an Olympic size pool and many machines available for students, and I suggest you all check it out. It’s located in the Newman Vertical Campus, just to the right of the check-in desk. Here is their website.
Counseling Services
College life can be extremely challenging (as can adult life in general). Most adults I know in New York City go to therapy—it’s nothing to be ashamed of and most people find it very helpful. I urge anyone who is struggling with any aspect of life, from friends to school work to family to general mental unrest to take advantage of the free counseling services offered at Baruch for all students. You can make an appointment here.
