Some locations/platforms that I have written in are usually on social media websites like Facebook or Instagram, and discussion based platforms such as reddit. People choose to also share their thoughts on their own online blog. Public speaking is also a form of “writing” that is obviously public as you are speaking in front of a live audience.More private locations would most likely be places that no other people other than your intended audience can access. To make their social media more private, they could switch the settings on the websites to be only visible to whom they want to view their content. By doing so, they can have a more “private” social media presence. As for offline, they could write in books or diaries, or any piece of paper that only they are in possession of. Unless they lose the book, or they give it away to someone, the content that they write will be known only to them. An online blog would most definitely be public, as anyone on the internet can read what you write, unless you have some sort of privacy setting on. Social media would obviously be public, unless privacy filters are on, but even in that case some information will tend to be accessible. Additionally, even if you make your information accessible to only your intended audience, there is a possibility that this information can still be shared by someone from your intended audience group. By putting anything on the internet, there is no guarantee that your information will be private. Finally, the writing locations that would be the most private to you would be offline in your journal or diary.
The implications of a possible move from a private to a public location means that you are essentially moving from a private platform that only you or your intended audience can view, to a public platform that everyone can see. This could mean switching the location of your diary entries from your journal, to publishing these diary entries on an online blog. While you may only intend a certain group of people to view these blogs, since it is online, anyone can technically access it. Thus, the most private platform will always be offline. You could turn public speaking to private if you speak among st your intended audience, although there are obvious complications to how the contents in your speech can spread.
I agree with your closing. I believe that anything that is written electronically is not private at all. Some don’t understand that our digital footprint is literally everywhere.
I also think that most information written electronically can be accessed by people that know what there doing.
I also think that most information written online can be accessed by people that know what there doing even if it’s private.
