Ciara Blogpost 3

In my life although I may not have realized it before, I actually write a lot. When it comes to social media I have a private Instagram and Snapchat, where only people I know have access to what I post. This would include my main posts, then what I post on my Instagram Story—memes, pictures of food, music, clothes. If any of these things were to be made public I dont think it would matter, but I just prefer to keep what I post about my life private. On Snapchat, quite a lot of people I know including myself have public but also private stories, for closer friends and people you trust, where you post the more personal parts of your life that you would only prefer select people to see. My twitter is public and consists of a bunch of random thoughts and my daily grievances, interactions with my friends and posts adoring Timothée Chalamet. It’s not necessarily something I would want people to see, but I wouldn’t exactly care if they did. When I think of this blog right now that I’m writing, its personal to this class but if it were to be made public I don’t think it would matter either, as its just school assignments. I have a lot written in the notes app in my phone, a lot of passwords and logins that I absolutely would not want to be public, along with a bunch of other random things and incidents that I also would not want to be publicized. I have a journal that I don’t write in often, but when it matters, and that’s something I wouldn’t want to get in someone else’s hands.

I think social media is definitely a big part of each person’s personal of private lives(if they do have socials), blurring the lines to where sometimes you can’t distinguish between the two.

  1. When I read your first sentence, I came to the realization that I write a lot. I write every day but I never knew because it’s all mainly on social media or text messages.

  2. I totally agree. I have both public and private instagram and snapchat, and it is hard to distinguish between the two since technically they are both private. But one is more private than the other.
