There’s a large assortment of books and articles to help you toward success, but with so much advice out there, who should you listen to? New York Entrepreneur Eric Vainer helps to boil it down to three basics.
1. Confidence and passion
No matter how old or young you are. No matter how much you know – or don’t. You can still exude confidence about your abilities and your products and services. If you’ve put the time into what you are offering and what you offer that is different or more than others offering similar products, then you can have confidence that you are offering something people want. If you love your product or service and are excited about it, others will be more likely to love it too – there is no need to hang back. Show it in your approach and energy. Confidence does not mean arrogance, it means you understand the market and your product and are certain others will benefit from your products.
2. Promotion and expertise
As you show that confidence and passion mentioned above, be sure to mention your products. Tell what they do for you and how they might be of help to others – don’t be obnoxious about it, but if people don’t know what you offer, they are not going to seek it from you. In keeping with that, since you have a passion for your product, learn as much as you can about what you offer. Share that information wherever people will listen, especially at community events. Find out about job fairs, expos in your field, chamber of commerce events or even local radio talk shows that may be looking for someone to fill time. Write a book in digital format and put it up for sale on a book sales site. Even if no one buys the book other than friends and family, still having written it shows a higher level of expertise and experience.
Never forget to take the time to make your successes public in any way possible. Social media shares about special items, events or sales can be a goldmine to your company – ask family and friends to share some of your posts with their friends and trust the great service you provide to take care of the rest.
3. Your team
Your team may start out being members of your family and a few close friends, mentors in the forms of books on your topic by experts, and your customers – if you have those, it is a great start. Recruit help, ask for recommendations and glowing reviews from customers. All of these and more will help you move forward. Find ways to share your passion, successes and fun with all the members of your team. Become friends with customers and develop an honorable reputation to keep them.
There are so many ideas and bits of helpful advice, just don’t get overwhelmed in the deluge of information. Keep the most important areas covered and let the success build as you display your confidence, expertise and trust your team to grow your business.
