On long island new york segregation is very prevalent. An example of this can be seen through the differences in garden city and Hempstead. The two towns are totally different in just about every way and the only thing separating the two towns is a sign. In the article it talks about the difference in experience from two residents of each town trying to sell their home. The family that lives in Hempstead can only get half of what the family the family in garden city could get if they both put their homes on the market.
