A Vindication of The Rights of Women
Qualities of a Great Work
In order to be considered a Great Work, a text has to have an intended audience written too, the writer must have a purpose for writing the work (why they decided to write it), a desired and or proposed outcome of the work, and the text must impact the audience reading it both when it was originally written and long after it was written. When people think about a great work of literature, they automatically think of famous books or texts where while reading it, it left them questioning something or something in the text stood out and was remembered for a while.
The World Today
This text does relate to the world we live in today in the U.S. We see many women speaking out for their rights, whether it’s at women’s rights movements, or woman’s marches and rallies. We see a lot of women coming forward and fighting for the many issues impacting our everyday lives. Woman now, do not only fight for their own rights but speak out about other people rights as well. Luckily, in today’s world here it is more common to see a woman speak out about issues than ever before. Unfortunately, this is not the case for many women outside of the U.S where woman are still oppressed and unable to fully speak for themselves.
Relation to my Life
Constantly, I see women speaking out about issues both outside in the real world as well as on social media platforms. Many female celebrities are using there audiences to promote and inspire changes everywhere. For example, I’ve seen Taylor Swift speak out about injustices to women in the music industry and I have seen other artists like Halsey speak out about planned parenthood and how important it is to change the way the world looks at certain things pertaining to women’s rights and issues. I, myself like to speak out inequality for women and other issues of importance that are important to me. When I am passionate about a topic, I am not afraid to speak out about it.
My Reading Experience
While reading this text, I was surprised to learn that a lot of the issues Wollstonecraft is writing about are some of the same issues we encounter today. In our world, there are still a lot of things to be resolved. There are still people around the world, fighting for women’s rights to education as well as women’s knowledge being oppressed by men. These problems were pointed out by Wollstonecraft back then, showing it is still relevant problems to think about today. I found this very interesting while reading.
