Life of a Sensuous Woman tells us a story of a Japanese woman, being manipulated by man, being addicted to carnal and immersed in jealous. The story gives us enlightenment that we should be watchful about sick love that will destroy our life by a silent transforming influence. Here in this novel, the elements of sick love are man, sex, and a green eye, So I strongly recommend the teenager should learn this from the book because the book tells us how those three things have such a bad negative impact on life and teenager should be cautious to similar things in modern society.
The primary reason is that teenagers in the 21st century are addicted to superficial TV-series, and it will mislead our value. For example, when I was around 14, I was a total fan of a TV play named Gossip Girl, a story about teenagers’ lives in the Upper East Side who wearing fancy cloth, having a luxury life and driven by lust. So when I commuted with my friend Jingyan, who was also addicted to the Gossip Girl and enrolled this course, we reached a tacit conclusion that we saw ourselves in the role of protagonist in the From life of sensuous woman so that we feel lucky to read the novel and to realize the threat of such a lifestyle.
But what can we get, as a teenager, from this observation to plan our future? As I suggest, what we should realize those situations, was differently treated because of gender, still exit now in a different form, such as race, age, looks, and sexual orientation. For teenagers, we should not ignore those differences or face it recklessly to protect ourselves. We should notice the mainstream view from a global perspective and how it changes between the century.
In other words, the cause of the problem is not the opposite side between the male and female. But in the era of social media, the debate, controversy between gender always become an eye-catchy topic and never ends being discussed on the Internet. A representative example in china indicates that a group of people create strife between genders purposely to make a profit. A blog named Mi Meng, in china, wrote those articles, which raised women’s hostility to men and blocked by the government because of the substantial negative social impact. Thus, teenagers should learn from the “From life of a sensuous woman,” they should be cautious and aware of the social media and people behind the screen.
Are women’s lives the funeral objects of a patriarchal society? To some extent, it is women’s bodies as a commodity for men to consume. Moreover, women are prey to men who see profit and reason as paramount, because of their innate weakness: the primacy of emotion. But it will simplify the problem if we attribute it to the patriarchal society. Oppression between the people who oppressed by others doesn’t relate to the a gender.
In a word, Women are always hurt by men, but they can’t live without the love of men, especially in Asian culture. For teenagers, all we ask that only the solution to the problem is to develop self-esteem, self-love, and independent personality.
