About

“Remember the Game” creates a time capsule of nostalgia around the video games of our youth while showing a new generation the values of gaming found in the old classics.

Now in my late 20s, I grew up with video games and, as an introvert for most of my childhood, I delved into these fantastical lands and discovered excellent storytelling. Gaming also led me “to come out of my shell” by the discussions it sparked with others players. It formed a sense of comradery not often found in today’s gaming when most people play video games over a headset and don’t see the true value of what is known as “local play.”

The blog shines a light on the excitement of being around one another or seeing others in person instead of relying too heavily on new technology. It will show my generation and the younger players that what used to be so fun, still is.

By highlighting games of my youth, readers of this blog will find new avenues of play by having the opportunity to learn about classics such as the Donkey Kong series, Super Mario series, and even the Mortal Kombat series. It will also report on a new market in gaming that has risen with the issuing of “remasters” of old games. The blog includes first-person accounts of emotions during old gameplay and comparisons between remasters and the original titles. Nostalgic retellings of “it’s my turn!” while fighting with friends over who is winning in “Mario Party” can really bring back magical moments. Conversing with other like-minded individuals and sharing their stories about old games also say, “You weren’t the only one” creating a sense of community.
