Tegu are also Like Dogs

Surprise that Reptiles can act like pets, well it all determines by the breed and species you choose. If you wanted a dog but can’t have one the best options are Bearded Dragon, Tegus and Leopard Gecko ( will discuss later). Tegus might be a fighting sight for the unknown eye but in reality, they are nothing but big babies and the love warm hugs.  Some species include Salvator duseni, Salvator merianae, Salvator rufescens and many more. But it all depends on how much knowledge you studied before purchasing one.

The King of Chill

Bearded Dragons make great first pets for novice Reptile owners and kids. Not only are they cute but are simple to take care of if you follow the proper diet and temperature for there tank.

. Bearded Dragons require a diet of both insects but mainly greens when they start from juvenile to adulthood. (remember to sprinkle calcium supplement for bone development)

. Be sure to shop for a size 24- 36-inch terrarium tank, they can grow as large as 24 inches.

. Rember, not all reptiles are the same, these are desert reptiles and require 20% – 30 % humidity and their temperature to 100-110 degrees. (Rember to find them a cooling spot.

. Always remember to wash your hands when handling any reptiles before and after to avoid any bacteria. All animals may carry something, not just reptiles that is why good hygiene practice is smart handling.

. And have fun these cute lazy guys are just like dogs in there own way 🙂

Reptile fun fact

  • It’s estimated that there are more than 10,000 species of Reptiles on the planet, and they can be found on every continent except Antarctica.
  • Reptiles are ectothermic, which means they get their body heat from external sources.
  • Reptiles do not have sweat glands and thus are not slimy, instead, their skin is usually cool and dry.
