Last Class

This class has been absolutely amazing, and I am so grateful for the time I had this semester. I had a great time with Professor Kher and my classmates! To those continuing at Baruch, I wish you good luck with the next semester. To those graduating, congratulations and best of luck in all of your endeavors.

I am writing this message because, unfortunately, I was not able to attend the last class, as I was at my sister’s wedding in St Maarten. The couple had a very small, unplugged ceremony with myself, my boyfriend, my younger sister, and both their parents.

Since the ceremony was unplugged, I do not have pictures from that, but here is a few of the island, and me and my boyfriend!

It’s Raining WHAT?

While my game is almost the same, I made some great improvements to better the user experience. The first is a different background to make it visually easier to see the elephant. The scoring method is different, the cats and dogs get smaller, and there is a newly introduced dragonfly bomb. Most important is that this game now ends, and players do not have to play forever. I hope you have fun, and wait… It’s Raining WHAT?

It’s Raining WHAT?

Its raining cats, dogs, and an elephant?

In this game, you have to move the basket using the arrow keys to catch as many cats and dogs as possible and avoid the elephant. The more cats and dogs you catch, the smaller they become and harder to catch; each one is 1 point. If you catch an elephant by accident, you will be set back 5 points.

Let’s see how high you can get! Good Luck!

Ping Pong

While doing this, I was babysitting my niece, Gigi, and had a screaming 4-year-old in my ear. I kept telling her that the “game” I was playing was for school, but apparently, it was not “grown up enough” for it to be “big girl school work.” So, Professor Kher, you need to assign “big kids work,” according to Gigi. Ironically, this game kept her occupied for 45 minutes once I was done.

I had always thought coding would be something I would never be able to do, but I am having so much fun using Scratch.

3D Printed Bird Trap

Figuring out how to create a 3D model of a bird trap was difficult. I decided to hollow out a box to replicate the shoe box we used. Then, I decided to make two long sticks, A and B. Stick A propped up the box, and stick B was meant to be pulled so that stick A would fall, and the box would collapse on the bird, trapping it. In theory, this might work.

Operation Bird

My childhood memories are filled with long summer days and nights with my sisters, Hailey and Emma, and my cousin Thaj. Thaj was an only child and the only boy among his 11 cousins. Every summer, he would come to spend the summer here in New York from Orlando with the army of girl cousins he had. We had to nerf gun wars, movie nights, pool days, and most memorable, we had operation bird.

This was a plan to trap a bird in a box using bird food under a box propped up by a stick with a string we would pull while the bird was under it. Emma was always too young to care, but every morning, me, Hailey and Thaj were outside with our trap ready to go.

Why did we do it? I don’t know. We were just kids with nothing to do. We never did catch a bird, and if we did, we would have let it go, but we just wanted to try.

Unfortunately, Thaj is no longer with us, and these memories are all I have of him. I hold them close to me, and every now and then, I think about the pure joy that he brought my sisters and me. Maybe this summer, I’ll set up a trap and finally catch a bird.

AI-Generated Superhero

This is my AI-Generated Superhero. Similar to the canva design, this image displays a robust female superhero dressed in all black and ready for action with her trusty tablet.

The AI generator is not perfect, as you can see that her face is skewed, but it is very close. It was had to use the right keywords to get the software to develop the look I wanted, but after a few attempts, this was as close as I got to my original avatar.

I am very interested to see what else we will be able to do with AI-Generated pictures in the future.
