How MS Access is used at Work
MS Access is a relational database management system (DBMS). It is useful in the business world. It allows business managers to create databases, even on the web, through a user-friendly interface and without having to deal with lines of code. It can help business managers track inventory, target customer marketing (through the use of contacts), plan events, and more. Access has templates that can help turn requests and recommendations into quotes, invoices and payments. You can use MS Access in conjunction with Excel, Powerpoint or other MS programs to get the most out of the experience.

How people use Microsoft access at work
I personally have never used Access before. It seems that it is used by others to store data and basically seems like a excel database. It is used to combine and quickly look up information used in spreadsheets. Doing so helps people by placing data in one single place.

The use of Access
I really do not use this program at work, but I know its importance when dealing with large database of information. This program gives us the opportunity to create, manage and organize large database set. Also, we are able to import data from other sources.
You can perform statistical analysis, watching for unusual relationships between certain elements. You can highlight unusual combinations and search for outliers. You can even view selected data points in a graph, watching for anything.

Observation of Using Access in Whole Sale Companies
Actually, I use Excel more frequently than using Access. Because my parents are the small business operator. We will have many orders from different corporations in each week. I think the access is extremely important for the whole sale distributors. First of all, like those Whole Sale Companies, they have to take care thousands of present customers, therefore, they need to know who they are doing business with .Second, the Whole Sale Company has to have a smart commercial system which is able to contain a very large amount of data, for instance, the customers’ business name, location, cellphone numbers and the categories that the typical customer interests. In general, it is a rational database processing system; therefore, the Access is the best choice for the Whole Sale Companies.
According to my own experience , when I was calling for orders , the sales representative would always ask my cellphone numbers first , because they could use my phone numbers to track my business profile and information in a second , using access improves the business efficiency in a new level .

How I used Access at work by Michael Noverre
While I worked at the Roundabout Theatre Company, we did a lot of fundraising. We used access to compile a mailing list of our current donors and non-donors. Since we had over 35,000 subscribers of all different contribution levels, it would of been mind boggling to try and separate them by hand. Instead, we would categorize them by donation level. Those who had never donated before would be sorted and batched and sent a standard form letter. Those in the $100-$500 level would be sent a thank you letter and a renewal contribution form, while those in the $500-$2000 level would be sent a special invitation letter to attend our Star-studded reading of a play. Finally those in the highest tier of donation $2000+ would be sent a personal letter from our Artistic Director and personal invited to rejoin the ‘Chairman’s circle’ as they called it and have continued special privileges to the theatre’s VIP lounge. This was all possible due to Access.

Great features of Microsoft Access
One of the powerful features of Microsoft Access is the ability for developers to create custom solutions using VBA code (Visual Basic for Applications), which is similar to Visual Basic 6.0. VBA code is currently used extensively throughout various Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. Most VB6 code including the use of Windows API calls can be used in VBA. Many Microsoft “Power Users” in addition to Access developers are able to extend basic custom end-user solutions to a professional solution by using advanced automation, data validation, error trapping, and multi-user support.
Microsoft Access features a relational database. One of the major advantages of a relational database is the ability to maintain relationships between different data tables. The power of a relational database makes it possible to ‘connect’ the data in many ways and ensure the consistency (or referential integrity) of this data from table to table. Creating relationships and ensuring consistency saves time and accuracy since each piece of information is only entered once which eliminates everyday human and duplication errors.
