Extra credit- how is technology used in my home country

I was born and raised in the capital city of Guyana in the mid 1980’s.  As a little girl growing up I remember always having a television. However, I could never forget the excitement of being around for the installment of a landline in our home in 1995.  So many things have changed since then and even so since I’ve left.

The use of cellphones and computers in Guyana has significantly increased over the past few years. It’s so easily accessible and available every one has one. Almost every home has a working Internet connection.  Social networking- Facebook, Twitter, Jabber- are all big uses of technology in my home country.  As with everywhere else the uses of technological services vary.  Machines are used to simplify and help in the fields of medicine, education and transportation.
