Cellphone companies today face many problems, but perhaps the most prominent one is the threat of losing services for millions of users in the amidst of a hurricane. To deal with this threat, the service carriers usually prepare much equipment that either acts as protection or backup if the first fails to protect. Some ramifications used include sand bags, impact-resistant windows, hardened concrete, and reinforced steel roof grids (money.cnn.com). But once the hurricane proved to be too powerful, carriers make temporary cell towers, generators, and diesel trucks as backups. The most important one of al are the batter backups, which could power the cell for a day or two as well as diesel generators once that battery dies. Strong winds from hurricanes aren’t the only ones carriers have to worry about; towers located in below-sea level areas are also at risk of flooding. Unfortunately, the only way to prevent flooding is to relocate.
