How people from Dominican Republic are using technology to improve their lives
Technology has definitely improved the quality of our lives. In Dominican Republic, the technological advances has helped people to get their work done faster at the workplace. For instance, the records of birth certificates will be kept in books at the “Oficina Civil” which is the place where a new born child’s information is declared. Over the years these books would deteriorate causing the information to be lost. However, individual’s personal information is now saved on computers. This has become an advantage because the data is safer on computers than it is in books. In addition, it doesn’t consume a lot of time finding someone’s information in the system compared to the hard search that had to be done before.

“These Are the 25 Worst Passwords of 2012”- This is the article I have chosen to write about
http://techland.time.com/2012/10/25/these-are-the-25-worst-passwords-of-2012/?hpt=hp_t3
The discussions questions from the article:
- What tips does the CEO of SplashData give for creating a unique password?
Slain, the CEO from SplashData, suggests to use “passphrases” when creating unique passwords. The reason for this is because “passphrases” are easier to remember and at the same time more difficult to be guessed by others. For instance, the phrase “I can’t sleep without my teddy bear” could be simplified to “IcswmtB”. In addition, strong passwords require some numbers, punctuation marks, and upper case letter so my new “passphrase” ends up being ” I.cswmtb86 ” .
- Why are passwords important?
Password are extremely important because they ensure that our information is kept secured from many sites. Since today most transactions are made over the internet, an stolen password can endanger your financial an personal data. For example, if someone steals my password to access to my Amazon’s account and this website have my debit card number saved whoever gets access to it can make purchases using my money without my notice. Also, transfer of funds can be made from my bank account to others if a perpetrator breaks my password. The simplest thing that can result from a stolen password is just embarrassment of details changed in your account from sites like Facebook. Even though you can always go back and create a new Facebook account if it has been hacked, but nobody wants to go over the process of letting friends, classmates, coworkers, and family know that the messages they are receiving is not actually from you. This is why I strongly advice all of you to start using “passphrases” and secure yourselves from perpetrators who are just waiting to get lazy people using passwords like “12345678” and do harm to them.

The use of Access
I really do not use this program at work, but I know its importance when dealing with large database of information. This program gives us the opportunity to create, manage and organize large database set. Also, we are able to import data from other sources.
You can perform statistical analysis, watching for unusual relationships between certain elements. You can highlight unusual combinations and search for outliers. You can even view selected data points in a graph, watching for anything.

New Microsoft Office 2013 Features
I was really impressed after knowing all the new features that have been included on this new innovation from Microsoft Co. The one thing I like the most about Microsoft 2013 is that you will be able to touch everywhere on the screen and zoom in/out the document for pictures or videos you might have attached.
Another important distinction from this product is that will keep you connected to other people, which means that family and friends will be just a bottom away from us. These are just a few of the things this innovative product has to offer to us.

How I use Excel at work or how some people use Excel at work?
I have never had to use Excel at work, but I had the opportunity to learn some basic features of this program. This is a very helpful tool at work because it gives the opportunity to organize data at a faster and effective way.
Being Accounting my field of study I am glad I am going to get a better understanding on how to efficiently use Excel. It’s a good program for scheduling, calculations, financial reports, journal entries and a couple other things that are necessary in the organization.
