extra credit: what is the “Internet of things”

By having more of our lives online, will our daily lives become more visible to outsiders on the internet?

yes. our personal information are actually exposed unsecured on the Internet. People use twitter, facebook, or even blogs to share their photos, feelings, where they have gone, what they eat, what is happening, their relationship status, family and so on. so, of course our daily lives have become more visible to outsiders on the Internet. I see some of my friends set passwords or secure questions for their album. I feel that is the most stupit thing that I will never do. as long as you keep your privacy out of your mind, it’s unsecured. also, there are privacy settings, your information can still be seen. there are Internet monitors under the companies such as verizon. it is usually used to monitor illegal activities. however, who can assure that it will never approach your privacy. it can even monitor when, where and what you have downloaded. also, some government department can also reach your privacy. I don’t exactly how they do, but something like FBI or CIA maybe. people are like naked and exposed on the Internet.

How do we prevent outsiders from viewing and tracking even the smallest details of our lives?

there si always a risk to put our privacy on the Internet. i would say that we should keep something in mind instead of putting everything on the internet. also, pay attention to the virus. that may help.

The use of technology changes people’s lives in china, especially internet.

There are 46 millions of people now are using internet daily compare to the

quicker and more convenient. People use internet to teach classes, find a date,

amazon or ebay. Anything you can think, you can find in this internet market. Also

using cellphone to manage ur bank account save people time. When you’re hungry,

you can order food at some major food delivery website. With a simple click of mouse,

you can get your lunch or dinner in a short time. Because of these conveniences,

people become lazier and have more health problems. People are lack of excises and

Technology improved in Guyana

Simple technology is improving everyone’s lives in Guyana because we are now able to communicate much faster with our families in there and vice-versa. Because of improved technology, you seriously now don’t need to travel by airplane for 5 to 6 hours and even more with all the delays that normally occur. With advance technology of webcam, we are now seconds from seeing the ones we don’t usually see often. Cell Phones availability is also another ways Guyana has tremendously improved. Other than Skype which allows users to make voice calls over the Internet, we are able to connect with families by just a dial of a button.

Other than cell phones and webcam, people are able to buy internet service to use on laptops and desktop which makes it much easier for teachers, lawyers and especially hospitals.

Also people had to get from one place to another by ferries but with improvement of technology, bridges and highways are constructed so many people will be move around and get to their destination much faster and easier by cars and taxis.

extra credit 2.how technology are used in my country.

I am from Shaghai, China. I would say that many people don’t really know about China. Some of my even said that “this can’t be China.” when I showed them the pictures of Shanghai. I want to talk about how technology has helped China to achieve such a great change.

The first example I want to talk about is the Maglev train(magnetically levitated train). The world’s first commercial application of a high-speed maglev line is the IOS (initial operating segment) demonstration line in Shanghai that transports people 30 km (18.6 miles) to the airport in just 7 minutes 20 seconds (top speed of 431 km/h or 268 mph, average speed 250 km/h or 150 mph). Other maglev applications worldwide are being investigated for feasibility. althogh there is only one in shanghai right now, but we can expect the high efficiency in the near future by buiding more.

moreover, in Hunan Province, a 30-floor building was built within only 15 days. it can resist a 9-magnitude  eartquake. technology brings safty and efficiency.

Extra Credits:Windows 8 vs. Windows RT: It matters. Let’s explain

·  How will Windows 8 change the way that users interact with their devices?

Windows 8 helps the touch-screen device users very well. However those don’t have a touch-screen have to use two fingers scroll across the trackpad. With a new interface, there is no start button like before. You can switch from new interface to desktop view. It will create a bunch of new, tablet-like app in Windows Store for windows 8.

· What is a Start app?

Start app is a new interface built to replace the start button. It contains large tiles, many menu functions and full-screen apps. It works easier for the touch-screens users.

Extra credit for “Windows 8 vs Windows RT”

Windows 8 just come out.  The most change for Windows 8 is the screen touch system.  Like iphone and ipad, you can access full version of Windows 8 by touching it’s screen.  Of cource, there is “desktop mode” to use the computer as we use now.   For our laptops, we can buy a surface table to make the screen touch.  However, it’s very expensive which costs $1,200 to 1,500.

Start app is a kind of new system Microsoft creat which can’t run the software we use now.   Now only Windows 8 and Windows RT could run it.  We can only find fitted software in Microsoft store.  Microsoft tries make start app become the standard for the future.

Explainer: What is the ‘Internet of Things?’

By having more of our lives online, will our daily lives become more visible to outsiders on the internet?

The question states “will our lives become more visible to outsiders on the internet?”, as if this isn’t already in existence. If you want to find anything out about anyone, the resources are there. Personally, I am not connected to any social networking sites but if you Google my name you will find my age, address and even telephone number. Anytime you have submitted information online, it is already there for someone else to see. If it’s not visible to the public eye, be sure that the government and your future/current employer have access to this information. You are already known in the system without saying a word, just being a common user of the internet you are in fact there and able to be traced no matter how hard you try. Even if you made the biggest effort not to take part in anything dealing with internet, your institute of education encourages it as well as employers. Although it can be valuable to your career it can also serve as a detriment to be judged without saying a word.

How do we prevent outsiders from viewing and tracking even the smallest details of our lives?

There is no way. I don’t believe there is a way just because many aspects of society forcibly make you act as a contributor to the internet. You must do this assignment online, you must access these resources from this website, you must use this social networking site to contact clients, you must log-in to this club website, you must do this online and that online, etcetera. The only way to truly stay away from the internet is by becoming a bum. By being a bum you will opt out of the domestication we face as being a functional part of society, otherwise you are traceable.

Final Extra Credit: Article:These Are the 25 Worst Passwords of 2012

This article is about the worst passwords of 2012. Many people still use the simplest passwords like “123456” , “password”,etc. The problems of those password’s users always got hacked by other people and may suffer from the loss of confidential information, which may transfer to a financial loss or even physical harm in the future. Therefore, a password is really important which should not be easily guessed by other people. SplashData CEO Morgan Slain suggests that people should use passphrase like “dog_eats_bone!” instead of a simple password. The attractive advantage of a passphrase is easily to memorize for a user and hard to guess by untrusted people. To protect our confidential information and to avoid from unnecessary losses, people should consider about passphrases whenever they set a new password.

How do we prevent outsiders from viewing and tracking even the smallest details of our lives?

I think one way to prevent outsiders from viewing and tracking details from our lives is if we don’t belong to any social networks and we don’t use the internet to communicate, like my grandmother for example. No one will be able to find her on the internet, because she never used the internet. Of course that is not the case for me. The only thing I can do is to hide my identity or use different names and never the real name.
