As a student who graduated high school during the lockdown, I am happy to be able to return to going back into the school buildings. Since I just became a freshman in college, I want to slowly adjust myself and adapt to the new environment (It will take some time since I am a slow learner). What I am probably most looking forward to in this class is learning about other people’s stories and getting inspiration from them. Growing up, I am always watching movies and reading mangas(yes, I am a weeb), and I am always amazed at how these directors/authors are able to come up with these brilliant stories and world. What I’ve learned so far is that a great story comes from the characters and how interactions are able to build our knowledge of the world that the characters live in. I think there is technically a different class that focuses more on that subject, but that is what got me interested in writing stories.
Coming out of high school, I notice I have to change most of the bad habits that I carry with me. For example, I always leave assignments due last minute in my last year of high school. I probably carry this habit because of how long I have been in lockdown. After being inside for so long, I felt very unmotivated because every day felt the same and that dropped my mental health. Since we are allowed to go back into the building, it does feel more refreshing than staying in lockdown for another year. Some other concerns would probably be that I am also a slow learner so bear with me. Since I have multiple professors, I will be dealing with a lot more work than I would have if I was a high school student. In order to know when everything is due, I would just put every due date into one document so I know what I should focus on first and what I should leave for later (There is probably a better method, but I am bad at organizing things). I still have a lot of flaws/habits I need to fix being a college student.
I wanted to be very informal when writing this blog post since that is my writing style. It is like thinking of the first thing that pops out of your head and writing it down. I don’t think I succeeded in writing it informally, but it is a college class so I guess it’s fine…
Anyways I am looking to working with you all. 🙂
Hey Vincent. I like how you were being very open. We get to know a little about you and your interest as well as your connection to writing. Also your remark about writing informally or not got me thinking about my post lol. I just felt like a prompt like this one made me not write informally and made me forget about the freedom of writing a blog that you just reminded me of.
That was a very genuine post Vincent, I felt like I got to see a bit of who you are as a person. The struggles you have faced during the lockdown is what fuels your excitement to be back in school. Honestly, I share that same feeling because it is great to be back in school and being able to hear all the stories people share about their lives through the conversations we have.
