In my last year of high school I didn’t have an English class; I had completed every English class they could offer while keeping me academically challenged. Returning to an English course I am hoping that my writing skills haven’t faltered since the practice had been put on pause. If that is the case I’m looking forward to getting back in touch with writing styles and becoming more comfortable with writing. As my instructor I’m hoping that you teach me the true power in writing  and how it will be beneficial to me in the near future. I want to end this class confident in my writing and comfortable with expressing myself through written words.     I only ask that your time in explaining things and be clear in what you are looking for in our writing. In my previous English classes I was very complacent with my work, however, I knew I would do better I just had a really hard time putting my thought on to paper. This new level of independence moving into my collegiate years I’m anticipating to learn the true meaning of ‘every second counts’. I had recently purchased a planner for the 2021-2022 academic school year; this is to remind me of my school responsibilities as well as enjoying my first year being a college student doing ‘college student’ things. I still want to enjoy my last two years as a teenager before any major responsibilities are bestowed upon me like paying bills and what not; but I also want to take college extremely serious and above average grades. I guess you can say my overall goal is to find the balance between work and play. Ive struggled with this before whether it be putting school way ahead of having fun or vice versa. Overall I think I will be pretty successful in this class and within the semester as a whole, I am beyond ready.

  1. Kayla, I believe you will accomplish all of your academic goals for this class, owing to your strong interest in developing your literacy abilities. You have obviously set goals for yourself in this class, which shows that you are a committed student. Regardless of the break-in of your writing, I am convinced that if you continue to complete all of your assignments, participate in class discussions, and request assistance as needed, your writing skills will improve.

Furthermore, I share your aim to find a balance between my social and academic lives. I, too, struggle with time management, but I believe that setting objectives and making to-do lists ahead of time would help.

  2. Kayla, I understand where you come from. Im having the same problem in math because my senior year I didnt take any math classes because I didnt need the credit. I also want to improve my writing skills and I hope this course helps us be a better writer and just a better student overall since writing is something fundamental we always going to use in our life. I hope you also get to balance your school life and personal life since I also dont want my last years as teenagers to feel just wasted.
