I decided to go to maker faire and i’m happy I did. It was great to see the DIY community flourishing. There was so much interesting and new technology, I was fascinated and I easily spent hours walking around. There were booths for almost everything including lock-picking, 3d printing, gaming, oculus rift, robotics, drones, and so much more.
1.When I first walked in the drone wars instantly caught my attention. I went over to watch and was amazed, I couldn’t believe they were fighting with real drones. It was very cool to see people have such control over there drones and use them to fight. The time the put into making there drones perfect and be able to fight in mid-air was really fun to see. I watched at least 3 drone fights.
2. The M3D printer was one of my favorite pieces. It only cost $350.00 ( relatively cheap) and it works extremely well. Also This 3d printer is meant to be used easily in one’s house. The small size allows it to be placed almost any where. this 3d printer is small and affordable, and i think is much more customer friendly.
3. Another thing i found interesting was the 3d printed car. it was incredible to see an entire car build entirely from a 3d printer. They said it took a long time to create the design files but that printing it out did not take very long. I think its people like this, who are constantly pushing the boundaries are whats needed to make 3d printing commonplace.
I learnt many lessons from attending Maker Faire. If you put your mind to something anything is possible. I know that 3d printing has a long way to go before it becomes main stream, but the people at this fair are leading the way and innovating in the field. There are so many people that commit there life to building interesting things, so that’s how I know that one day 3d printing will become main stream, because of the awesome people that are committed to its future.
Going to maker faire showed me the progress in the 3dprinting field, and that what we learnt in class is being used to create many things. Being able to see different 3d printers making different objects was exciting. Seeing people print vase’s, shoes, towers, and a ton of other things was great. There is no were else in the world were people can go and see this level of technology and interact with it.
