There are reasons every cause to shut down facebook has a facebook page. Its hard to give up what Facebook offers. The article is pretty messed up, but it has some truth to it. Enjoy.
The things in this slide show says alot about our culture and all the things posted are not set in stone, new things will come things will come that will be able to provide the same services that seem better. Facebook dominance is sometimes over stated. New trends will see light and Facebook will be the company that was phased out by new means of communication.
This was extremely true in a number of ways! I personally never played farmville, or care about sending pictures, but there is some truth in what is said. Recently, I was about to “deactivate” my facebook, but did not do it. Was it because I would never know when birthdays were? Was it because then I would not know about parties and such? Was it because I am nosy and want to see what everyone else is up to and let them know about my life occasionally? Maybe it was a combination of all three, but I really do not know. Facebook often becomes an annoyance, with people updating their status every two minutes, and “facebook drama” occurring constantly. It would be much easier to deactivate facebook, yet out of habit we keep it. However, I think it is only a matter of time until facebook falls into the same hole as myspace, and a newer, better, probably more invasive, communicative website arises.
To touch on that last point, I’ve always heard this argument that something new is going to come out and everyone will leave facebook just like they left myspace. But really I don’t believe anything will make people leave facebook behind because unlike myspace, Facebook is forever changing how it does business growing and evolving to what people will like next. but i cud be wrong
I find those reasons funny and true to a point. One of the reasons is “Forget Facebook. 80 million of you are addicted to Zygna’s Facebook game, FarmVille.” I had created my Facebook account just for playing the applications. When you play with friends, those games does get addicting. When Restaurant City by Playfish came out a few years, I played it and I still do. For me, Facebook’s purposes are remembering friends’ birthday (one of the reasons listed), communicating with classmates, various events, and games. ^.^
I don’t believe that Facebook will be replace by another social network soon because as John mention above, it is always changing. It is also like Microsoft Office, where everyone uses it. It is universal, convenient, standard and if someone uses something different, they will probably miss out on things.
