Facebook Denies ‘Smear’ Campaign Against Google

“The competition between the Internet’s biggest rivals is turning bitter” There are reports that state that Face book is allegedly paying a third party company to write negative reports about goggle. “After news reports earlier this week that the public relations firm Burson-Marsteller was pushing reporters to write negative stories about Google and alleged privacy violations, The Daily Beast reported Thursday that Face book was the mystery client behind what it called a “clumsy smear” campaign.”

This is a show of the war of the social media. These allegations can potentially affect the uses of these websites as well advertisers on these websites.

Facebook new Terms of service

This article discusses the new terms and services of face book. Face book terms of services has changed in February 2009. It used to allow users who close their accounts that all contents that was uploaded will expire, however since the change face book has the right to use any that was uploaded on face book. “…anything you upload to Facebook can be used by Facebook in any way they deem fit, forever, no matter what you do later.”

This just goes to show that what you put out their on the web it stays there. So people who have face book, twitter, and blogs should me mindful of what is put out there on the world wide web because if you delete your account your information will not be out their forever.

This article discusses the extensive use of Social media by children under the age o 13. Face book terms of use stated that users have to be 13 and older to have an account on face book. This article stated that 7.5 millions children under the age of 13 have face book accounts and another 5 million children under the age of 10 have face book accounts. The most concerning thing about this is where are the parents of these young children and why are they allowed to have face book pages.

Another thing that the article stated was that their is a correlation between teen drinking and face book use. I don’t agree with this point I don’t think face book causes or facilities under age drinking.

The article also discusses that more and more companies are banning the access of face book and twitter from their computers. My job does not allow employees to access face book or twitter. However many employees use other ways to access face book and twitter. They go other websites that allow them to access face book and twitter.

The firing of a R.I Physician puts spotlight on the use of social media in Medicine

This article looks a registered nurse that was fired last year for posting a patients information on Face book. Although this nurse was fired last year there have been other incidents where doctors have been reprimanded and terminated for disclosing patients confidential information on social networking sites.

This article specifically discusses medical professional however recently there have been other professionals that have been fired for the misuse of networking social media sites by publicly discussing things pertaining to their jobs.

This is just more evidence that proves that social networkingweb site are not as private as one thinks. Some one has to be mindful that what they are posting that although your setting is private it can still be viewed and can cost you your job.

Obama Talks budget on Facebook

In this article it discussed how with the use of social media President Obama addressed the nation. I discussed the budget crisis and other fiscal matter. He also discussed  investments in technology, health-care reform, the housing crisis and the power of social media.

This article shows how social media can be a powerful tool. Social media has played an integral part of the lives of young people. The use of face book as a means to address the country allows young people to really get educated on the issues that are facing the nation today.

I feel by the president using face book to address the nation it will lead the way for others to get important information to the younger generations. Face book also played an integral part in Obama’s election campaign. “He understands the power of technology, and how people use information on Facebook and elsewhere,” says Chris Hughes, a Facebook co-founder who is executive director at Jumo. Previously, he directed online organizing for Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign”

Obama is the face of the changing times and he is using many tools, like social media to show that he understands the changing time of the world.
