  1. “In November the World Bank suggested that total remittances to poor countries last year would be at least $283 billion. Known flows have more than doubled since 2002 (partly a result of better measurement). For many small countries they accounted for a large chunk of GDP in 2007, for example in Tajikistan (46%), Moldova (38%) and Lebanon (24%). Choke remittances, and such places will suffer.

Even for larger economies, such as India and China, remittances provide hefty flows of capital. The World Bank expected India to get $30 billion from its diaspora in 2008 and China $27 billion. ”

Because the migrants move around the world, they can make the finances that they earned move from region to region, which are like economical region, country to country and so on.Thus, they may play a useful role that can decrease the nowadays world-wide economic crisis.

  2. I believe that just as how the scientist Ivan Pavlov asserted that our responses can be conditioned in his theory of ‘Classical Conditioning’, I believe it is very possible for us as individuals to condition ourselves to be fulfilled doing occupations such as farming and any other profession that main stream America does not put an emphasis on.

The value and success of one’s life is based on the individual. Through awareness campaigns and government involvement (greater financial rewards), the role of occupations such as farming can be seen as vital and have more appeal to the young.

Parents have a responsibility to train, ‘condition’ their children to live fulfilling lives and not lives based on what is popular. It is a concerted effort of both individuals and the government alike, to create the culture shift that we all seek, which is to live a life which is fulfilling spiritually and rewarding finally. It takes adjusting of our definitions of what success is.

  3. Let me add something. What government make a decision will affect us alot in the future. I hope that the economics is the bottom line. Dont go down deeper. The government should take an action to provide more jobs for us. For instance, America government should stop spending billions of dollars on battle. To investigate companies whether they are doing illeagal businesses. to change companies book value look like making profit from each quarter. Try to nake more businesses with the other counties.

  4. In agreement with Alicia, however i do not believe that parents have the ability to train, “condition” their children to live “fulfilling lives.” I think its inborn as human psychology, which is primarily conditioned by society and environment, to better the best. People like to achieve a higher and higher status in society, giving little regard to what is considered the demeaning jobs such as farming, government jobs, etc.

  5. I think that when poor countries get remittances, and they still are worst off from before then I think some of the money is going somewhere else. Not to be pessimistic, but it is things like this that widened the economic gap.
