Hello world!

Song of Myself is a beautiful, intricate culmination of Walt Whitman’s beliefs about living a better life. The video analysis provided by Nick Courtright focuses on several sections but specifically, his comments on section 32 are profound.

He comments on the fact that section 32 is based on the idea that we are constantly full of lamentation for what we’ve done wrong and/or what we could’ve done right. I think that this however, is a good thing. It aids in progression which is necessary. However, where it fails is that people are fully in and of progression and don’t stop to smell the roses. Furthermore, section 32 points out a call back to the primordial world, moving away from romanticism. Also, it insinuates that, in the same way a child has purity and a connection to the physical world and nature around them adults need this connection.
