3) Job Search Boot Camp

Week 2 of a 6 week series:

Seniors and recent alumni (1-3 years postgrad) who are seeking employment may join this weekly group to learn about the most effective job search methods, ask questions, and engage in activities to enhance their skills. Each week covers different aspects of the job search process, so participants are encouraged to attend all or as many sessions as possible.

Every year the SCDC co-sponsors the Big Apple Job Fair with the other CUNY Schools to offer companies a unique opportunity to meet CUNY students and for students to engage in preliminary interviews and acquire information about companies. At this workshop, participants will learn how to make the most of a career fair, including how to prepare, what to wear, techniques to use, and how to follow up with companies afterward.

 

 

 

5) Secrets to a Successful Job & Internship Search

Many of you come to the STARR Career Development Center because you are not sure how to get started on your job or internship search, are feeling overwhelmed by the process, or have been applying but haven’t yet found the right internship or post-graduation opportunity. We can help! We work with students to break the job search down into smaller steps, set goals for their search and learn how to tackle them. Whether you haven’t thought much about what you would like to do for this summer or after graduation, have already decided and just need help getting there, or are somewhere in between, this workshop is for you.
In this interactive workshop you will:
• Learn about the elements of a successful job search
• Set goals for your own job search
• Come away with resources to help you achieve the goals you’ve set

4) Mastering the Job Interview-Advanced

This workshop is designed primarily for juniors and seniors who have attended the basic interviewing workshops and desire more intensive training. It focuses on the second interview or the site interview, the group interview and strategies for success in behavioral type interviews. (Basic Interviewing is not a pre-requisite)
 

 

5) Internship Seminar (OCR Eligibility Workshop)

October 15, 2014, 2:30 pm– 4 pm

This seminar will educate students on everything they need to know about internships including benefits, steps involved and best sources to obtain internship opportunities. As a result of attending this seminar, students will become OCR Eligible and be able to apply to opportunities through the SCDC On-Campus Recruiting Program provided they meet the specific employer parameters for internships or full-time positions. Additional topics covered in this workshop include STARR Search’s online recruiting system, writing an internship-tailored resume/cover letter, interviewing skills, and making the most of an internship once obtained.
