– Suicide Squad at Baruch College –
UPDATES – Feeling sad for whatever reason? Do not. At this time, another round of Final Exams and Projects are due, and it is normal to feel anxiety, stress, etc.
The future is unwritten.
Reach out to us, new and old friends, let’s talk about it.

Following the event of May 19th 2014, which was posted by the Ticker here, I decided to create a Suicide Squad for Baruch College.
I am really sad that someone would decide to end life (being it a suicide or not) – and since we do not have much information at this time, I ask students to pray for our fellow Baruchian, found dead on the 17 Lexington Building yesterday.
May you all find this a comforting place to voice your stress – so that we can give your any assistance that you may need – be it with your studies, personal or professional problems.
I hope you will help me in reaching out to other students and try to make this university a place to celebrate our life achievements and goals.
We can do anything we put our mind to, and together we can face any adversity in life.
Best,
PG – 5.20.2014
Need to talk?
Many people find that talking about their feelings can alleviate their distress. If you’re feeling in distress or suicidal now and need to talk to someone, we’re here to listen.

More about befriending centers (www.befrienders.org)
- The main aim of the centers is to give emotional support to people when they are suicidal. The centers also alleviate misery, loneliness, despair and depression by listening to anyone who feels they have nowhere else to turn.
- The people who run the centers – befrienders – are volunteers who have all been specially trained. The work is non-political and non-religious, and volunteers do not try to impose their convictions on anyone. They simply listen.
- The fact that someone has been in contact with a center – whether by telephone, letter, email or in a face-to-face meeting – is strictly confidential. So too is everything that the person tells a befriender. Some callers prefer to remain anonymous – and that’s fine.
