Chaya Rappaport

on Jun 3rd 2010

My full name, as per my passport and driver license, is Rappaport, Chaya Rivka but in school I go by Chaya. I’ll be working this summer for Baruch College Now, a college journalism program for high school students, as a journalism assistant. My understanding is that my responsibility will be to work with the students, editing their stories and being a general help. I’ll find out if I have the right impression on June 29, when I have my first meeting.

I’m looking forward to this opportunity because it’ll give me a chance to pass on my love of writing to younger students. I hope to learn how to be a good editor, and in the process, how to be a better writer and reporter.

    Hi Chaya,

I was suppose to work with you in the College Now program, but received an internship opportunity somewhere else. I’m sure Professor Paron will teach you a lot, I’ve heard she’s a great professor. Good luck managing those kids.

    Alex

It’s a great chance to not only learn how to be a good editor but also a good teacher. By helping them out and guiding them through their writing you’ll gain a lot of appreciative and thankful students. Good luck!

This sounds great. I was also really interested in the College Now Program, I do something (slightly) similar, I run a creative writing workshop for teens in the Bronx. Maybe we can share tips and resources. 🙂

Funny I was going to do this with Professor Paron, and then was asked to do the East 30’s project which I had to unfortunately decline. I hope someone is doing it.

Well I wish you luck with your internship, maybe I’ll see you around there.
