Sophia Tsang
sophia on Jun 5th 2010
So I have already showed a little bit of the whimsical person that I am, having accidently posted my introduction as a comment. As you can tell, I am not completely familiar this website as of yet, but hopefully in time I will get the hang of it.
My name is Sophia Tsang and I am interning at Track Entertainment. My position is an intern journalist. I work and write content for the Clubplanet department which deals mostly with music, nightlife, venues and lifestyle, but it is not as exciting as it sounds. I research, fact-check, edit and post articles. Additionally I approve or deny events that are available to be viewed on the website. Occasionally I make phone interviews to venue owners.
My goals for this internship is simply to gain some experience working in the field of entertainment news. I am hoping to improve my writing skills and simply learn as much as possible. Also I hope to network and meet new people.

Getting To Know Me
jgerman on Jun 4th 2010
Hello Fellow Interns and Professor Mills,
My name is Julia German and I am an intern at the Edith and Marks Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst. My summer responsibilities first consisted of creating press releases, proof-reading and copy-editing, writing articles for various Russian newspapers, and creating outreach pamphlets and brochures. But last week I was given an amazing opportunity to test my skills in the Journalism and Public Relations fields. The JCH has given me, on top of all my prior responsibilities, the task of creating a Journalism studio which I will run at the end of August in one of their teen camps. I will begin creating the educational materials next week, under the careful watch of my supervisor. I can’t begin to describe how truly honored I am by this assignment. At the end of this internship, I hope to sharpen my writing skills, become more comfortable speaking in front of others, and receive the experience I need to begin my exciting career in the Journalism field. Yet my main goal in all of this is to show the young teens that are participating in the Summer Journalism Studio, that this field is thrilling, lucrative, and most of all significant in today’s world.

Angel Rosario
Angel Rosario on Jun 4th 2010
Hi, my name is Angel Rosario. I’m interning in the sports department at NBC. My responsibilities right now are to put highlights of sports videos on a timeline and I also have been gathering facts and information from around sports.
My goal is simply to experience a little bit of what it’s like to be a journalist in the real world. While I’ve had numerous internships in the past, they have all been in areas other than journalism. Interning at NBC will be a great experience in terms of learning some of the intricacies of being a journalist and has already and will continue to allow me to meet some great people who work in the field.

Chaya Rappaport
on Jun 3rd 2010
My full name, as per my passport and driver license, is Rappaport, Chaya Rivka but in school I go by Chaya. I’ll be working this summer for Baruch College Now, a college journalism program for high school students, as a journalism assistant. My understanding is that my responsibility will be to work with the students, editing their stories and being a general help. I’ll find out if I have the right impression on June 29, when I have my first meeting.
I’m looking forward to this opportunity because it’ll give me a chance to pass on my love of writing to younger students. I hope to learn how to be a good editor, and in the process, how to be a better writer and reporter.

Alejandro Bracetti
abracetti on Jun 3rd 2010
Hello Everyone,
My name is Alejandro (Alex) Bracetti and I am fortunate this summer to be working as an editorial intern for Complex Magazine. My initial goals at the magazine will be to assist the Lifestyle department with a number of editorial duties, such as writing content, editing, proofreading and fact checking for Complex.com.
Having worked as a freelancer for the past two years, my goal through this internship is to gain more in-house editorial experience. I look to work close with the lifestyle editor and tech writers to help revamp they’re online website; plus gain clips for my portfolio. In addition, I look to move up within Complex and come onboard as a staff writer by the end of the semester. Hopefully my goals can be achieved, but during these hard economic times in the field, it’ll be a challenge to standout among an intern team of at least 30 others. Nevertheless, I’m ready to make my mark.

Aaron Monteabaro Introduction
Aaron Monteabaro on Jun 3rd 2010
My name, as above, is Aaron Monteabaro and I’ll be working on a new food news blog now-called the East 20’s Project, run by the Department of Journalism and the Writing Professions at Baruch College.
My responsibilities during the term include generating story ideas, as well as researching, reporting and writing a minimum of 3 feature-length stories based on the food community of the East 20’s in Manhattan, and produce a multimedia piece to accompany them.
In terms of my personal goals, there are the obvious; I would like to earn some credit and develop some good clips. However, I’m aching for a chance to report and write in the ‘real’ world, and this project gives me an opportunity to do so in a way that will hopefully build the blog into a long-lasting and influential news outlet while at the same time benefiting the community that hosts us.
I’m certain that the experience will be a great teacher.

Welcome to the Summer Media Internship
JMills on Jun 2nd 2010
This blog includes all students registered in JRN5050 (first summer session) and JRN 5051 (second session). Each week, I will post a comment or question, and ask each of you to respond. You are also responsible for browsing through each other’s comments and responding to at least two of them. (This process will be monitored and will be part of your grade in the course.)
From time to time, I will post some readings, about internships or the media in general.
For your first post, please identify yourself by full name, name the organization where you will be interning and summarize what your responsibilities are. This can be very brief. Then add a statement of goals — specifically what you hope to learn or accomplish (besides adding a line to your resume).
