Barack Obama spoke to the nation acknowledging the failures of the Obamacare website as well as urging people to try to sign up in different ways. The website has been a colossal failure with people encountering errors and only around 1 in 10 managing to actually sign up.

I find this interesting since I have always thought that the law in itself would be terrible, the fact that with over 2 years to prepare, a functioning website could still not be designed, speaks to just how terrible it will be: even the most basic part of this incredibly complicated system can’t be set up correctly.

The United States and Russia agreed on a deal to destroy Syria’s chemical weapons, putting a peaceful end to this process. Since a chemical weapons attack in the Syrian Civil War, America decided that Bashar Al-Assad was the one who ordered it and was ready to go to war. Luckily Russia stepped in and brought a peaceful resolution to this process.

I found this very interesting since here Russia was the peaceful one, and the USA was the one that aimlessly was seeking war. It is great that a peaceful resolution was reached.

Electric Zoo also known as Ezoo is an annual festival at Randall’s Island, promoted by Made Event,  where DJ’s play house/dubstep/trance/electric music. 2013 was the fifth annual Electric Zoo festival but had to be cut short because of two drug overdoses.  The two people overdosed on MDMA also known as Molly or Ecstasy. Electric Zoo is supposed to be a place where people unite for the love of dance music and not for the use of drugs. This effected me because my friends and I love dance music, and it sucks to see people go to events under the influence. I know anyone can have a great time without using drugs so why not go to a festival above the influence?

The E-Cigarette is an alternative for smoking. It turns nicotine-infused propylene gycol into an inhalable vapor that is not as harmful for a person’s lungs. In France, E-Cigarette shops have started to grow within the past year as taxes started to rise. With 15 million smokers and high taxes, many smokers are looking for a cheaper alternative. I found this interesting because I indeed have seen many people on the streets and subway trains of NYC smoking an electronic cigarette. Although it is an alternative for smokers, I still don’t like the idea of an ‘inhalable vapor”. I have been considering getting an E-Cigarette for my father because he smokes cigarettes and I really want him to quit. It’s hard for him to quit because he has been smoking for about 20 years, so I would rather him smoke the E-Cigarette as opposed to real cigarettes.
