Manifesto Blog Assignment
A theatre is entertainment that involves the performance of plays. It’s also a stage, an interactive platform that plays or shows take place. Some forms of performance should happen at the theatre. The main purpose of a theatre should be to entertain, to tell a typical story, to inform a life-long lesson, to pass on an inherited anecdote, and to earn reputation, or to make profit.
I believe that a good theatre, or a good show should be full of entertaining elements and purpose. However, the primary aim should be to deliver a lesson that is socially or politically educational to its audiences. From what I have learned or heard from this Theatre 1041 class, I would say that by watching a show at a well-prepared theatre, an audience should experience an emotional purging. As a result of this emotional encounter, audiences should learned from the moral message and carry these lessons on to their children.
A theatre should not try to be more like a film or a television channel. A theatre is kind of a form of traditional heritage that should not be altered, or removed, or forgotten. We should, and have to keep “theatre” its original way of looking.
From my own perspective, a theatre generally should not draw too much crowds. It is better if it could keep it small, dedicated audiences. The initial, fundamental purpose of operating a theatre is to entertain, rather than to attract more people, or to appeal to earn more profit.
If I could, I would make a theatre more appealing, and most importantly, to make it more considerate to every audience. I would do so by making the decoration more welcoming, employees more approachable, and to make the price of the tickets more ideal and suitable to everyone no matter of how good or bad his or her financial situation is.
Overall, this is a beneficial opportunity to take this Theatre course. I would say “Yes” to recommend my friends, schoolmates to choose this class!
