The reading discusses the comparison between New Media in modern-day and traditional practices. While reading, I believe that New Media does advance the conventional style of art better and has many benefits. Personally, I started illustrations using the traditional method with pencil and paper. The traditional method is a great way to start off and lower the barrier to entry. However, after swapping to digital illustrations, I was given more options and tools to help create illustrations. I remember the passage talking about how New Media is similar, but also different to cinema and that you can tell stories. New Media and cinema have similar features, however, New Media introduces more tools that can help customize the viewing experience. I think the idea can also be said about traditional and digital art and that traditional art is all in one take and you work with limited tools. Digital art has more tools, you won’t have to worry about making a mistake, and many user-generated tools can help us develop our skills even further. The internet also spreads fast so your artwork can reach people from around the world. I also respect software engineers because of how they can create applications and software to help other artists create things they love. New Media gives users more options and does not have to go on a linear path to create something. when I want to create a background in traditional art, I need to start with it first. For digital, I can start with anything else like a logo or a design I like, and then pick a color I like. If I do not like the color, I can always change it to my liking. New Media is a tool that can help us and I believe that many artists can benefit from tools and software to produce and develop their works faster.
