As soon as the Registrar’s email about registration dates hit my inbox, my friends and I immediately dive into deep discussions on the available courses. Which courses should we take together? What are the requirements and what’s the plan to graduate? Day by day, as we get closer to graduation, we are left with less classes and more confusion.
If you are confused about which courses to take and which will not count towards your degree, you can avoid the lines at the Academic Advisement Center and log in to your CUNY Portal account. Once you are in CUNY Portal, simply click the Student Advisement Degree Audit (a.k.a Degree Works) link to track your degree program. (Note: If you have attended more than one CUNY school, you may need to make sure your Primary College in your CUNY Portal profile is set to Baruch).
The Student Advisement Degree Audit tool provides the worksheet of your whole academic progress specific to the program in which you are enrolled. It helps you to determine which courses you can register for next semester. Not only that, but Degree Audit also illustrates the requirements of your program in regards to pre-requisite courses, required GPA to enroll, and your major and minor requirements.
Also, if you are not aware whether you are sophomore, junior or senior, you can view your current status at Degree Works. More than that now you can use the GPA calculator, where you can determine your current GPA and what GPA you would need in the upcoming semesters in order to graduate with your desired GPA.
Students are encouraged to use this tool to plan their degree programs. If you have any questions, students may contact the Registrar’s Office or Academic Advisement Center.
To me, this is the best tool! The reason is obvious, I know which courses to take and we friends are graduating together. 🙂
