When the global pandemic of Covid-19 hit the United States it affected different states differently. Some states managed to control the numbers while other states were not able to. This is due to many reasons such as density, population, and lack of leadership. However in Texas the reasons for drastic outbreak were different. For one Texas had enough resources to deal with patients in terms of bed and space, but what they did not have enough of was actual nurses and people to treat and take care of these patients. Also in Texas the governor pursued a risky plan on reopening the state before most. As it turns out this plan may have been a little bit too premature. And when the number of Covid-19 cases increased at a spiked rate he immediately rolled back on some of the policies. Then he mandated a mask order forcing all adults to wear masks. The hospitals began to become angry at the governor for not assisting in the fight along them while still requesting for help and assistance.

The main reasons why the United States has not been able to overcome the Pandemic in the ways in which other countries have been able to; is due to the political divide embedded in the country. Many people believe that the government is infringing on their rights as Americans. Many Americans believe that it is their right to take the risk to go out or not wear a mask. Furthermore many Republicans believe that it is their right to go out and work, and that the government is taking away their right to eat in a sense. Lastly, right wing people do not have trust in the Media believing that they are blowing the entire situation out of promotion in order to destroy Trumps economy. All in all for a country to fight anything while fighting each other is counterproductive and will result in no meaningful gains.

I agree with your conclusion that a country fighting divided is counterproductive. Hopefully, seeing the results of said division will eventually convince the anti-maskers that the issue has nothing to do with distrust of the media or their rights, rather a bigger issue at hand: COVID-19.
