I usually do not have many nice things to say about Trevor Noah. This is mostly because out of all the shows on comedy central his show is definitely the least entertaining for me. However, I can’t help but give him the credit that he deserves for using his platform to convey the messages of the problems that were facing the world. His connection to the fact that there is a disconnection between the people of the society and the government. Furthermore, he points out that the idea of trust in the government and establishment is very low due to the belief that someone could be killed for relatively nothing. George Floyd’s killer is evil there is no discussion about that but I feel that evil is nothing new in the world, but there is blame to be made when it is evil in a position of power that could affect the remaining members of the society.

In the documentary “I am not your negro” Bladwin displays the argument that people will even be killed if they go out against the evils of society. Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X had a similar goal but their means for the success of their strategies are complete opposites. Considering the fact that one was peace and one wasn’t and they both ended up being murdered proves to show that the evil will win if there aren’t the remaining people in the society to defend behind them and help them. Furthermore, there is no matter how you go against the hate in America the hate will try and stop you if you are a conflict with their own beliefs.

The film is a complete connection to the protests that happened this summer due to police brutality. It was easy for people to be enraged by the people who were rioting and looting in the name of justice and because of this it even took away from the peaceful protests that were going on. Which shows a complete continuity between now and the civil rights movements that happened decades ago.

I agree with your statement about Trevor Noah. I think it’s important for him to use his platform to spread awareness about the whole BLM community. It’s concerning to see the officer, so calm, as he takes the life of George Floyd in front of tens of people. However, it’s scarier to realize that there are tons of black people who are faced with the same knee on their necks, and there is no attention from media because they survived. I think it’s also important to realize that people reacted violently because they were tired of the lies in society’s contract. Black people were promised protection, but the police who enforced protection also murders them.

I found it interesting how you started off by saying you usually don’t love Trevor Noah’s content, but that you respect him for using his platform to convey this important message. I agree with you that Baldwin wanted to focus on these men because they were all murdered for going against the evil. They were trying to gain rights and put an end to racism, and in return they were murdered.

I like your statement about Noah and how he uses his platform to convey the messages of the problems that are facing the world. Too many times we see people shy away from stepping up and doing the right thing. I found it interesting that the reason you thought Baldwin chose these men was because they were all murdered for going against evil. Initially I thought it was just because they were important civil rights activists, but the more I think about it I agree with your analysis. Good job!
