Throughout my academic career it has been no secret that my strengths are not in writing. I believe this is mainly because of my tendency to view thinks in a formula format. Although my skills in writing certainly have increased during the years, I do believe that under the instructions of a professor I will be able to master the art of writing.

One difficult challenge that is foreseeable would be the lost interaction with classmates; simply because there is just some things that the zoom classroom can not achieve. I do worry that creating connections and friends will be more difficult that it has ever been over the computer, and I am also jealous of my other friends who have been able to go away to school and meet their roommates, classmates, and professors. Also because they are having the college experience which we unfortunately have not been able to have yet.

I have the same issue!! I tend to like following a format but I am not blind to the fact that it usually leads to my writing sounding very robotic. This is also something I wish to improve on during this semester as writing and communication in this manner is imperative to success in our futures. The process might be harder with distance learning and all but not impossible!

    Hi Zakk,
If you tend to think in a formulaic way, use that to your advantage—make logical, step-by-step arguments to prove your points in writing. Part of the trick to learning to write well is to figure out your natural tendencies and make them work for you. Of course it’s also good to experiment and try to get outside your routine, but don’t make it your number one goal to fundamentally change the way you think and write—it won’t work and it isn’t necessary.
