America itself is somewhat of a paradox. We have the idea of not having a monarchy with one all powerful man, yet we have a president which is often referred to as the most powerful man in the world. We preach freedom and equality, yet we only recently had the idea to give women the right to vote as a man would. And that no person has the right to own a slave. But these are the problems of our parents’ generation that we are still talking about while new issues tend to slip by.
Please consider asking yourself, why do we look down upon Venezuela for redistributing land crippling its own economy and displacing thousands of workers? Yet many of our young people endorse the idea of wealth distribution… I’m sure wealth distribution would have been a much better alternative to the workers and landowners… because land does not hold an equitable value…. And you can’t make sure the land is equal because all plots of land by the definition of law are finite and unique Yes I’m sure wealth distribution to our social problems…. Maybe we should ask the Venezuelans once they solve all the “wrinkles” the socials talk about in America.
Well again please ask yourself, we strive for a strong economy via at home manufacturing, yet we sponsor companies like toms shoes that make shoes in America and export them overseas for free, they have out competed African shoes companies by giving them away for free… int that as bad as exploiting lower overseas wages? At least at that point you would be giving them U.S. dollars as payment or at the very least the U.S. dollar equivalent in their own currency. America is inherently flawed and unequal and it radiates outward like a disease to all of your trading partners for better and for worse.
Your post is definitely thought provoking. I had no idea the Toms shoe company has out competed African shoe companies. The Toms commercials that spoke about giving away shoes for free are so positive and upbeat I would have never thought to consider the potential negative impacts of that action.
