In many cases of catastrophes in human history few will ever make the histories books, there must be hundreds of tornados, earthquakes, wildfires and wars that have gone unrecorded. For example if you ask anyone over the age of thirty where they were and what they were doing on 9/11 they could tell you exactly who they were with and what they were doing and when but at the same time they can’t tell you what they ate for breakfast. I feel the corona virus will be the same, everyone will remember the information they first heard but won’t be able to tell you about the hard science because it came out so much later during the panic lockdown, which just serves to highlight the lack of scientific oversight in the medical community that left an extremely compromising virus both on the toll of life and economy, it was left up to politicians on the left and right to spin information about the virus to various new outlets such as CNN and FOX, to not only create confusion but also sow deceit that the other side doesn’t care about your life.

When states and cities were operating on nothing and reusing PPE just trying to get to the next shift. But short term thinking like that causes big problems in the long run such as a shortage of human capital willing to risk their life in order to help end the virus, or at the very least make the unlucky ones last moments just a little more comfortable. And it’s in that comfort that people find hope, when I was listing to the podcast about hotel corona I said to myself “oh this better be good, Jews and Arabs in the same room” and I was pleasantly surprised about how well it turned out, and of course I was saddened by the fact that other hotels are doing it and I makes sense it’s better for business but you also need to be practical, these problems that their cultures are tasked with are deeply ingrained in society and while the prejudice they have for one another will not disappear today or tomorrow or next year… they will change, one day they will tell their children about the time they were in hotel corona and a Jew and a Arab had coffee together listening to a comic make jokes about the hate they harbor towards one another then will tell their children and so on.

One day the idea of continuing this cycle of hate will be so old fashioned it must be filtered out of society. And events such as the hotel, while they seem small and temporary it is anything but temporary. The human experience is eternal so long as one is alive and it only takes one person to affect change, but don’t take my word, instead I’ll refer you to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela and of course Gandhi.
