Hello my name is Amanda Guzman and I was named after my grandma, Amada.  I am a first generation American, but my parents were born in the Dominican Republic.  They immigrated to the United States in the 60’s and since then my family has inhabited in the Lower East Side. 

I am into sports and have been a part of many teams throughout my high school experience.  Now, to keep active, I spend my time at the gym, or I like to go dancing. Dancing, specifically bachata, merengue, and salsa, is another one of my hobbies and this one has a special spot in my heart.  I was taught to dance by my dad, who is my favorite dance partner.  Another hobby I have is drawing because I have a passion for art.  Reading is also one of my hobbies; one thing that amazes me is how timeless a book can be. A book written more than a century ago can still have a great impact in today’s time.
