Sexual Harassment

Male Dominated Profession’s often overlook harassment in the Workplace.

Although law prohibits any type of discrimination in the workplace, women are still experiencing sexual harassment in the workplace.

Many Companies in the United States have had to implement policies regarding sexual harassment. Because many profession’s are male-dominant, sexual harassment towards women is often either overlooked or disregarded completely or unperceived. This type of gender bias is what creates a dangerous environment for all working women. This notion of hiring people based on gender, increases the gap gender gap causing woman to be perceived as the inferior sex. According to a  Cosmopolitan survey,  the survey found that one in three women between the ages of 18-34 has been sexually harassed at work. Michelle Ruiz, one of Cosmopolitan’s interviewees, states that “Sexual harassment hasn’t gone away — it’s just taken on new forms.”

“Unlike workplace sexual harassment portrayed in films and pop culture that represent it as overtly aggressive, sexual harassment at work isn’t always easy to spot. It can be a sexual comment in a meeting or even an insinuating Facebook message.”

Not only can it cause serious issues with your staff, it can come back to haunt your company legally and in the court of public opinion.
