Esteemed administrators and faculty, fellow students, and members of the Baruch community, the food sucks! It’s too expensive. Its’s not good quality. It’s not what we paid for. For a school like Baruch, with such a prestigious program as Macaulay, we deserve better! The prices are way too high and we don’t even have many options! We need a change! We should have food that appeals to the students, food that the students want to eat and enjoy! Instead of spending money in restaurants all over New York City, the money will be going directly to Baruch, giving the school the opportunity to profit as well! This issue needs to be taken into action as soon as possible! If we really put effort into this issue, we can get this fixed within the next few months!

Ronald Regan’s Farewell Speech
President Ronald Regan’s unbelievable farewell speech is one that many Americans will never forget. Throughout his speech, President Regan expresses his sorrow on his presidency coming to an end but also conveys how proud he is on how far the United States of America has come to become one of the greatest nations in the world. President Regan informs the country that the United States would not be what it is without their help. He explains: “Our Constitution is a document in which ‘We the People’ tell the government what it is allowed to do. ‘We the people’ are free. This belief has been the underlying basis for everything I’ve tried to do for the past 8 years.” During his presidency, President Regan always desired to make the residents of the United States comfortable and happy with the decisions he made. He wanted the people to know that they helped make the decisions in government happen and that he was thankful for that: “ You won every battle with every call you made and letter you wrote demanding action.”
Towards the end of his speech, President Regan mentions John Winthrop’s speech, “ City Upon A Hill”. John Winthrop was one of many individuals who were in search of freedom. In his famous speech, Winthrop describes what his America, or freedom, would be like. At first I didn’t quite understand why President Regan mentioned Winthrop, but it soon made sense. President Regan wanted to share with the people of the United States what he believed freedom was and that he was happy the nation was moving towards that direction, the direction of freedom. During his eight years of presidency, Regan was able to move America back in the direction of freedom and hopes that with a new president coming into office, they can continue.
Seduced by Perfect Pitch
Auto-Tune, a computer software that has the ability to alter and correct an out-of-tune vocal performance, has recently been used excessively as pop artists create more and more “smash hits”. Ranging from Cher to T-Pain, there has been a good deal of speculation as to whether or not auto-tune is only used to cover up the fact that the artist has the inability to actually sing. Auto-tune has many effects including a robotic voice effect as well as voice synthesizer effect, which was popular with a lot of bands in the seventies and eighties.
To some extent, the author of this article proves a point. Since times have changed and the way music is recorded and shared has transformed, most songs are synthetic and there are more opportunities for music to be manipulated. However, auto-tune may also be beneficial. With its use to make a track more in tune, auto-tune therefore helps with making a song more appealing to the human ear; more people are intrigued to listen. If it helps with bringing in more fans and making people happy, then what’s wrong with using it? In addition, just because part of a track may use an auto-tune effect, does not mean that the whole song has been auto tune. For example, pop artist Ke$ha uses one of the auto-tune effects for beginning parts of her songs; however the rest of the song consists of her own natural voice.
What the author of this article failed to do was to ask those who are listening to the music what they think: Do they care that their favorite artist may be using auto-tune? Most fans would not mind; as long as the music sounds good and has a catchy beat, then why not? Rather than badgering artists and their auto-tune use, the author of this article disregards and doesn’t even acknowledge those individuals who support the artist. I personally would not mind if one of my favorite artists was using auto-tune. I have come to terms and accepted the fact that most artists may be using in todays society. If the music is enjoyable, to me there is no problem with the use of auto-tune. So ultimately the question at hand is: if an artist you loved used auto-tune, would you support their music?
