This is another tiny advice faucet. A way to share what activities were held during the first general meeting, to inspire and perhaps set forth traditions.
For the first general meeting of Spring 2012, the activities included an adjective ice breaker, a roaring game of move your butt, and a tantalizing challenge of liebrary.
The adjective ice breaker included everyone introducing themselves, and following their name with an adjective that starts with the same letter as their first name.
The move your butt activity involved limited amount of chairs ( one less than the actual amount of participants) positioned as a circle and an introduction of facts. One person would stand in the center, share a fact, and follow with, “move your butt if…” The if could be an activity, a fact, a place of living ect. If this if is true for someone, they must get up and relocate to a chair that is opposite, or at least two chairs away. If one does not find a chair, one has to share 🙂
The Liebrary game rules were bent a little, with wonderful results. The first line of the book was read out loud, and the members had to guess the book. Another attempt could be made at making it a writing exercise. Perhaps giving different people different cards, asking them to write what they think the first line would be, with the actual line in their possession, and see if the rest of the group would buy it. Oh the possibilities!
