When I first heard that a black woman( Kamala Harris) is going to be vice president I was so happy because we have never seen this in history but I am coming to a realization that maybe this can all be in the act of getting Joe Biden to be in the favor of the people. From reading this article I feel like he flipped back and forth. The way he described young black people was very degrading then further go on to say, ”The end result is they’re about to knock my mother on the head with a lead pipe, shoot my sister, beat up my wife, take on my sons.” His words and actions are very contradicting because he then go on to say that everyone make mistakes. It’s like when you and someone get in an argument and they say something really hurtful because they know it will get to you. He can really believe these things in his mind but won’t prove it until he is satisfied with his goals. The limits of representation in this article basically mean just because someone in power is the same race as you doesn’t mean they will represent you how you want them to. For example it states,” But her race and gender identity as a Black woman do not guarantee that she will champion a Black-centered agenda.” This quote emphasizes that you can’t put your full trust in someone especially in politics.

Excellent post
To add to what you pointed out in your post, the author’s prediction hold’s true. Kamala’s identity as a black woman doesn’t guarantee that she’ll have a good black agenda. It’s been a few months into the presidency and from my perspective, I don’t think Biden and Harris will hold up to their promises. I really wanted Trump out of power, but this made me realize that republicans and democrats are two sides of the same coin.
I agree. Having Kamala Harris as vice president is a huge step forward in history. She’s the first woman of color to ever be in office, which also gives younger women of color hope that they can succeed in America too. We’re so used to seeing successful white people, but it is slowly changing and hopefully will continue to change.
I agree with the post. I think it’s a huge deal that Kamala Harris got voted in as Vice President of the United States. This is a huge landmark in US history, being the first female VC but also a person of color. I also believe it inspires many groups of people that they are being represented. But I can not help and wonder if this was Biden’s scheme to attract new voters as he did something similar beforehand to attract white votes back in Biden’s early career.
