Cole is always known for acknowledging social and political music through his work and music, which makes his music so likable and relatable by a huge audience. At the end of the year his fourth studio album “4 Your Eyez Only” was released on December 9, 2016 during the cold winter, and it wasn’t quite what fans were expecting at first. The album took another approach on J. Cole’s perspective that was never seen before, it gave a gloomy and cynical vibe that was unlike the artist. The album explores a variety of topics concerning the African American community including mass incarceration, racial discrimination, gang violence and depression. The album also touches on other topics such as love and fatherhood.
