How safe is it to play on the streets?

When the weather get warm, children like to go out and play outside. They usually go out onto the sidewalk to play ball, ride their bikes, and play with neighboring children. But sometimes the playing outside can be dangerous. At anytime the children may run out onto the streets when they are unattended by their parents. So in order to increase the children’s safety of playing outside, much more of these road signs are being put up onto lamp posts for drivers to drive with caution.

It is good that more of these signs should be put up, but I feel that it gets ignored. For example there are stop signs practically everywhere, but many people ignore these signs and do not stop.
In my neighborhood there are many kids who plays basketball on the street and they stop when cars pass by and resume their game when the cars drive by. I also notice that these kids are not under adult supervision, so I feel that putting up those signs for drivers is a good idea and on top of that a notice or flier of some sort should be distributed to each household to be aware of their childrens’ safety while playing on the street or sidewalk.

Every neighborhood needs to have the children at play sign to let drivers know that they must be extremely cautious in this particluar area. Parents also need to speak with their children about the danger of cars and playing in the street.

Is there a park close by where these children can play safely?
