The newest attraction down at Wall Street is the Sports Museum of America. Located just steps away from the charging bull statue and the American Indian Museum, this museum caters to sports fans of all kinds. This museum is tucked away downtown off of Beaver street and the number of daily visitors it gets depends on the day of the week and the weather. During the summer there were roughly 300 to 400 visitors per day. A lot of their visitors are tourist because of the Sports Museum affiliation with other tourist companies such as Grey Line and The Circle Line. If customers show their bus tickets they receive a $5 discount from the entrance fee to the museum. The Sports Museum of America opened its doors in May and has slowly been increasing its numbers. A few of its visitors are actually New Yorkers, mainly ones who know about the museum’s location and who are huge sports afficionados. Unfortunately Wall Streeter’s aren’t pooring into the museum by the dozens because of their lack of time or perhaps because of their preoccupation with the economy. What they are missing out on is artificats such as all 6 NBA Chicago Bulls championship rings and the highly coveted Heisman Trophy. Ben a recent visitor to the museum said “it was amazing! a lot of information and a lot of fun.” Hopefully The Sports Museum of America can market themselves effectively so that we can all enjoy this new attraction.
