Residents of Co-Op City, a huge housing complex in the northeastern part of the Bronx, have longed for the time when they get direct train service into Manhattan.
A Metro-North Railroad stop would be a great addition to the existing transportation into the city. Residents of Co-Op city use the Nos. 5, 6 and 2 subway trains plus the express bus, BMX7.

Yolanda Texidor, a resident for over 15 years, said, “There is always pros and cons to something. The pros of the Metro-North train would be the travel time, however the cons would be incoming and outgoing traffic, plus parking.”
What is preventing such a project to begin? Marjorie Anders, a spokeswoman for Metro-North, said, “The tracks exist, it’s surely a doable thing however there is no room down at Penn Station to create an alternative line.”
There are many factors involved in such a huge project but it is certain that commuters will continue to await a stop along the New Haven line, until there are available tracks down in Penn Station.
