On a cold February night at John F. Kennedy Airport people were rushing to meet their close ones. There was nobody to meet me. The wind was so strong. The penetrating cold held me inside the airport for about an hour. I flagged a taxicab and pointed to the driver my next destination. The taxi driver did not speak much English, neither did I. On our way out of the airport we drove through a dark and foggy tunnel. There were no people just cars, smog and grey shadows around.
These were my first memories about New York City. It was almost two years after my arrival. I came to the point where I realized that there is no better place in the whole world to live, but New York City! Fast paced environment, high-rise buildings, fascinating lights and astonishing parks – this is my New York! Yes, it was not instant love at first site until I saw the beauty of the real City.
Throughout my life I have been traveling a lot: China, Korea, Japan, France and Greece. Yet, New York is the place where I always longed to live. I would agree there are many wonderful places in the world. However, there is just one unforgettable City where I always wanted to come back, this is my New York!
There is something special about the Metropolis. New York is always mercurial, where people are absorbed by the flow of urban wilderness. Living among skyscrapers and an intense life makes me feel more inspired and thrilled every day. The capacity of the energetic City is boundless. This liveliness always pushes me forward. Yes, this is my New York!
