Now that Daylight Savings Time is in effect, the city its starting to have a springlike feel to it. Spring, especially late spring, and into the beginning of summer is my favorite time of year because the weather is perfect and also because my birthday is in early May 🙂 But the end of winter and beginning of spring, along with the time change, marks a different period in the city IMO.
Today, I went for a long walk in my neighborhood of downtown Brooklyn, all the way through DUMBO and into Cobble Hill. I went grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s, picked up dry cleaning, and bought items from the pharmacy. Normally, I find these mundane tasks boring and a drag. But today there was a vibrancy to the sunshine and all the people moving about seemed to lend everyone an extra step. Everything was teeming with possibility.
Some complain about losing an hour; but for me much was gained. I can sense the spring/summer approaching and am excited as always for ‘summer in the city.’
