The topic of my final paper is going to be Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, a German poet who influenced the Dada movement in the lates 1910s through the 1920s and her work is quite frank and vulgar which I find interesting as at that time women were seen as the weaker and gentler sex, and here was von Freytag-Loringhoven written with such harsh language. I think my thesis will be based around how her work was her way rebelling against the time’s gender theories.
For my digital essay I’ll probably do a reading of one of her poems to a backdrop of Victorian era music and a slideshow showing the “classical” roles women were tasked with in the early 20th century.
