I Remember

The first video I posted messed up and some clips became muted so this is an updated version of it

Making this short video was honestly the most exciting project I had to do this semester. I was able to work with a great camera thanks to the Baruch college library and I met some pretty awesome people. When I first started recording people I didn’t have a set approach to how I wanted the video to be, but it soon took a life of its own. At first I asked people what they remembered that was important to them, but that took away from the feeling of easy going-ness of their responses and I wanted that feeling to be there because that’s how Brainard’s poem was. Then I changed my statement to asking them to finish the sentence “I remember” and then the ball really started rolling. I did get some rejections which at first annoyed me and made me not want to ask people anymore. But then I got over it and just kept on going. The last filming I did was with my friends at night where we just went up to random people in the Flatiron district and asked them to finish the sentence “I remember”. It was fun and surprisingly many of them participated; I think having more than one person asking you to be in a video for a school project made it more legitimate. Then I had to edit everything and that took a pretty long time but it was overall an amazing experience and now I want to make more videos 🙂
