About the Program

The newly formed pod mentorship program places full-time faculty (lecturers and tenure-track), currently in their first, second, and third year at the college in a group with other faculty members. Each pod has been assigned two mentors. One more senior (post-tenure) mentor can address questions and concerns around research, publication schedules, and tenure processes. That might include thinking through questions around timing, contractual release time, helping colleagues network (within the college and beyond), and making sure faculty are aware of local—and less local—resources. Each pod is also led by a mentor who is closer to new faculty in terms of seniority and experience. This mentor can speak to college resources and opportunities, but their primary role is as a Baruch/CUNY cultural ambassador. Using their own recent experiences, they will offer guidance and advice with managing the CUNY calendar, designing new classes, balancing work/life challenges, translating CUNYSpeak, and more.
